Sapporo Snow

Wish I had some better pics of the snow, but when it is that cold it is hard to make yourself get your camera out. And the camera doesn't like it when it gets too cold, either. Still, this was a common sight in the winter; all white, with giant piles of snow on the sides. These are small compared to ones I have seen before. They plow the snow to the sides of the road and occasionally have trucks come by to haul the snow off to the middle of nowhere. The second winter I was in Sapporo, it snowed a ton, so they ran out of snow-clearing budget pretty early on. they kept plowing the snow, but without the snow being hauled off the piles got bigger and bigger. Needless to say, few people are on the streets that time of year.
